Sonny D’s is more than a restaurant; it’s a heartfelt tribute to Santo “Sonny” Damico, a beloved family figure known for his larger-than-life personality, infectious laugh, and unwavering dedication to family, friends, and community. As a produce peddler in Chicago, Sonny brightened the day for everyone he met while delivering fresh fruits and vegetables to local grocers and restaurants. His generosity extended far beyond business—Sonny often returned home to ask his wife, Connie, to cook extra meals for those in need, embodying his belief that food was meant for sharing.
Frank Jr. opened Sonny D’s to honor his grandfather’s legacy and the Damico family’s values of hard work, generosity, and love for a great meal.
Housed in a building that began as a local pharmacy in New Buffalo, Sonny D’s now stands as a testament to both family heritage and the spirit of hospitality.
